The main reason for doing this walk is to see the historic Point Hicks lighthouse up close.
The granite headland was Captain James Cook's first sight of the Australian mainland in April 1770. The bonus of this walk is the absolutely outstanding view from the top. There is something impressive about this towering structure in the middle of what is otherwise a pretty vast wilderness.
